Reset, Recharge, Restore

Happy New Year!

This week I was very excited to welcome 2023 with open arms. The start of a new year is exciting for a number of reasons, most of which revolve around the idea of getting the gift of a new beginning and a fresh start. But what does it mean, exactly, to get a fresh start and how do we go about seizing all of the endless opportunities that might come with it? In order to mindfully move into a new year, I’ve decided to focus my intention on ways to reset, recharge, and restore. Here’s why…

At the start of any new beginning, it’s important to reset our goals and expectations. What may have been a high priority previously might no longer be feasible or even desirable going forward. As time progresses, we change, our world changes, and the people around us change. It’s important to let go of the things that no longer serve us so that we can make space for new things that will. Letting go of preconceived notions or previous goals can be hard, so it’s important to give ourselves and others grace while we reset.

By the end of December, most of us feel somewhat (if not completely) depleted because we have given so much of our energy to our jobs, to our responsibilities, and to our loved ones. Even if we give of ourselves willingly, it can still feel like we have little left for our own health and well-being. That’s why taking some time to recharge in the new year is so important. Identify the activities that fill your well and consciously devote time to pursuing them. This can be a great time to reboot your meditation practice or to try out a new mantra.

Once we have reset our goals and expectations and we have recharged our bodies, minds, and spirits, it’s time to restore the balance and harmony in our lives. This restoration of our equilibrium will serve as the foundation on which to move forward and embrace all the joy and possibility that a new year brings. With our feet firmly planted on the earth and our hearts open to whatever the universe has in store for us, we can welcome 2023 and look forward to another beautiful trip around the sun.

Namaste,
