Words of Peace, Comfort + Meditation from Thich Nhat Hanh

One thing I love most about my line of work is how often I get to travel around the country and the world. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, especially because it provides me with the chance to meet new people, expose myself to different cultures, and discover new and inspiring things to love.

On a recent trip to New York, for example, I made a stop at one of my very favorite stores, ABC Carpet & Home, where I came across the most beautiful collection of statues and sandscapes celebrating the calligraphy of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. I’ve long been a Thich Nhat Hanh fan and follower, and seeing some of his works in such a stunning display was just another reminder of why I find his words, mantras and philosophies so uplifting and moving.

Upon arriving home in San Diego, I immediately revisited my own collection of Thich Nhat Hanh calligraphy in a book called Calligraphic Meditation: The Mindful Art of Thich Nhat Hanh. And because I always want each and every one of you to feel more inspired, peaceful, soulful and enlightened in every way possible—one of the primary reasons I created Mala and Mantra in the first place—I wanted to share some of Thich Nhat Hanh’s words and calligraphy that bring me the greatest sense of peace on a daily basis.
